And so it began...

My intention for this blog is for it to be a record of my gaming experiences, trials, tribulations and painting and modelling efforts.

Dark Ages game today

Played a 750 point game today against the Brood. End result was a loss. However learnt alot more about my units and the rule set in general. Both forces seemed evenly matched and no units again seemed over powered.

In this game weapons can malfunction depending on what you roll which I guess makes sense given the apocalyptic nature of the game and setting. Have had a bad run with that however as today St Mary again malfunctioned on her first shot and took out my best combat model, the Warwind. She did distinguish herself later in the game by knocking prone the Howler (massive monster). Plus one of her abilities I forgot about which would have made her more effective again... still we are all just learning.

Liking this game alot and can't wait to play more.

More Dark Ages - Strikes

Another unit for my Forsaken list, the Strikes. Very fast little blighters that hit real hard on the charge. Not really sure how they see as their mask seems to cover their face.

Have a 750 point game tomorrow so will get a better idea of how some of my new units play.

Dark Ages - Warwind

Here she is the latest addition to my Dark Ages Forsaken list, the Warwind.
Armed with twin katana and heavy pistol she is a heavy hitter in combat or can sit back, dance around you and shoot you fill of holes.

Dark Ages 500 point game vs Dragyra

Got in my 500 point game up at the local club. Played Dave and his Dragyra. He had three groups of slaves Sling slaves, Spear slaves and Shard slaves, a unit of 3 Squall and a soul warden. I had st mary, Contradiction, 3 banes and 2 flense.

We both got the same objective which was to get our leader in the opponents deployment zone. Lots of terrain with a ruined church in the middle. I tried a refused flank tactic trying to bring all my forces to bear against Daves left side. In the end I hit a road bump when the Squalls came across. The flense took out the slingers but met their match charging the squalls. The shard slaves panicked after being reduced to half by the Contradiction shotgun. They ran through my units killing two models when their shards blew up. St Mary stepped up to nail gun the squall to death rolled a malfunction took out a bane causing them to run. The Dragyra got initiative and charged the Squall into St Mary killing her. Game to the Dragyra.

Comedy of errors really for the Forsaken. Still learnt alot as this was only my 3rd game. It plays very smooth and seems well balanced with good tactical options. The critical hit and malfunction add a nice 'never know what is going to happen' element to it meaning all is never lost. Look forward to the next game. Nice paint job by Dave still not quite finished but looking good. Cheers mate good game and a deserved win.

Dark Ages - St Mary

Here she is the leader of my Forsaken list, St Mary herself. I spent most of the afternoon trying to get her done and I am not 100% happy with the way she turned out. Can't put my finger on it but any suggestions welcome...

Dark Ages appears

A new parcel arrived from Maelstrom earlier this week and in it my new Dark Ages models. Work took me out of town for a few days so I have not had much time to get anything painted however a big effort today saw them all assembled and under coated.

There was one model that caught my attention when I first looked at Dark Ages and really pushed me over the edge. Here he is all painted and ready to go. He can be fielded as eithier Contradiction or as Judah.
